ดวงโคมนิรันดร์ประภาเป็นประติมากรรมรัตนชาติ ทำด้วยแก้วผลึกที่มีในประเทศไทยเจียระไนเป็นรูปกลีบบัวครึ่งซีก แปดกลีบ ล้อมรอบแก้วผลึกสีขาวขนาดใหญ่ส่องสว่างตลอดเวลามิรู้ดับ ดุจดวงประทีปนพรัตน์อันเป็นสัญลักษณ์แทนดวงวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ของวีรชนไทยผู้เสียสละชีวิต และเลือดเนื้อ เพื่อประเทศชาติในการต่อสู้กับอริราชศัตรูมาตั้งแต่บรรพกาล ซึ่งจะสถิตย์อยู่ ณ อนุสรณ์สถานแห่งชาติ และอยู่ในความทรงจำของปวงชนชาวไทยตลอดไป ประดิษฐาน ณ บริเวณหน้าอาคารประกอบพิธี อนุสรณ์สถานแห่งชาติ
